Choosing a Niche with ADHD
Why It Feels Impossible (and What to Do Instead) For neurodivergent creators, the pressure to “niche down” can feel like a straitjacket. ADHD brains are wired for curiosity, creativity, and newness. When we’re told to “pick one lane,” it’s like telling a hummingbird to sit still. But the problem isn’t that we’re distracted—it’s that we’re multi-passionate. We go deep into our interests… just not one at a time, and not always forever.

🎯Choosing a Niche with ADHD – Why It Feels Impossible (and What to Do Instead)
Let me say this upfront: if you’ve ever tried to “pick a niche” while your ADHD brain is constantly buzzing with 37 business ideas, 4 side hustles, 19 Canva templates, and the sudden urge to learn underwater basket weaving... I see you. I am you.
The Niche Dilemma, ADHD Edition
In the online business world, everyone says the same thing:
“Pick a niche.”
“Narrow down.”
“Find your one thing.”
One thing?! Just one?
But what if your “one thing” changes every other Tuesday? What if you wake up passionately committed to digital planners, and by noon, you’re knee-deep designing printable sticker sheets, only to end the day building a Google Sheets mood tracker while researching how to animate a ghost for a Halloween mobile background?
Spoiler: I’ve Done All That. (And More.)
I’ve created digital coloring pages, mood and habit trackers, Etsy shops, blog posts, digital planners, ghost animations, sarcastic Farm Heroes videos, and a website with free tools and resources. I even wrote an ebook and launched two brands. And I still don’t feel like I’ve “niched down.”
And maybe that’s perfectly okay.
Why Traditional Niche Advice Doesn’t Work for ADHD Business Owners
For neurodivergent creators, the pressure to “niche down” can feel like a straitjacket. ADHD brains are wired for curiosity, creativity, and newness. When we’re told to “pick one lane,” it’s like telling a hummingbird to sit still.
But the problem isn’t that we’re distracted; we’re multi-passionate. We go deep into our interests… just not one at a time, and not always forever.
So What Can You Do Instead?
Instead of trying to force yourself into one niche (and failing, then feeling bad about it), try this ADHD-friendly approach:
💡 1. Pick a Common Thread, Not a Cage
Don’t limit yourself to a single offer. Think in terms of themes or values:
“Helping creatives stay organized”
“Making adulting easier with fun digital tools”
“Blending function, fun, and a little chaos”
This gives you freedom to pivot without confusing your audience.
💡 2. Group by Vibes, Not Just Products
You can still organize your chaos. Just make it playful:
🌀 Doodle & Dream – coloring pages, creative printables
✅ Organize & Thrive – habit trackers, planners, productivity tools
🧙 Vintage Vibes & Ephemera – junk journal kits, aesthetic papers
🌈 Creative Clipart Corner – PNGs, stickers, overlays
These themed “corners” make your shop (and brain) easier to navigate.
💡 3. Embrace Your Multipotentialite Mojo
You don’t have to hide your ADHD. Your ever-evolving creativity is a superpower. Share your journey. Let people see how your ideas evolve. Your authenticity will attract the right people.
Final Thoughts: You’re Not a Mess. You’re Multi-Dimensional.
Take a breath if you’ve been beating yourself up for not picking one perfect niche. You’re not “all over the place.” You’re layered. Complex. Creative. And your business can reflect that.
So whether you’re making ghost animations, printable trackers, or jumping into your next big idea... keep going. You're not scattered—you're brilliantly exploratory.
